What is Artomatic?Artomatic is a month-long multimedia arts event that transforms an unfinished indoor space into an exciting and diverse arts event that is free and open to the public. In addition to displays and sales by hundreds of artists, the event features free films, educational presentations and children’s activities, as well as musical, dance, poetry, theater and other performances. How often is Artomatic held? When will the next Artomatic be? The first Artomatic was held in 1999. The next three events occurred at two year intervals (2000, 2002, 2004). Starting in 2007, the goal became to hold the event annually. The 2008 event was held May 9-June 15 in Washington, D.C. Plans are under way for a 2009 Artomatic. Who can participate in Artomatic? Participation in Artomatic is open to everyone, from established professionals to beginning artists. Participants pay a registration fee and are required to serve a number of work hours during the event. How can I become a part of Artomatic? Want to be a part of the next Artomatic? Then sign up to receive ArtoNews, the Artomatic e-newsletter, using the box on the left-hand side of this Web site. You will receive the announcement of when and where the next Artomatic will be -- as well as dates for registration -- as soon as the information becomes available. Once registration opens, you can register as an artist and show your work or perform in Artomatic. You can also sign up to volunteer and help build a stage, design a brochure, organize an event, host a workshop, or staff the show. There are many ways to become part of Artomatic and we'd love to have you join us! Interested in helping out? Send an e-mail to volunteer@artomatic.org. I'd like to buy a piece of art I saw at the last Artomatic. How do I do that? To purchase art, you will need to contact the artist directly. You must make arrangements directly with the artist. To find artist contact information, visit the artist catalog and search by name. If they do not have contact information listed, try searching for their Web site online. Please do not contact Artomatic to purchase art. |
